Sirisha Rehabilitation Centre has served children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Krishna District for 22 unbroken years — guided by the conviction that dignity is not charity, it is a right.
How SRC began
The presence of a child with special needs in any family arrives unexpectedly, and calls for a special environment — barrier-free, for better access, mobility and inclusion. Founder M. Someswara Rao, whose daughter Sirisha lives with an intellectual disability, accepted this as an opportunity rather than a burden.
In 2004, he conceptualised and founded Sirisha Rehabilitation Centre as a voluntary service organisation for the training and rehabilitation of children with similar needs — with the goal of Independent Living in an Accessible and Inclusive Society, with Equality, Equity and Dignity as a Right.

SRC founded
M. Someswara Rao registers Sirisha Rehabilitation Centre as a voluntary service organisation in Veerankilock, Pamidimukkala Mandal, Krishna District.
NITI Aayog registration
SRC registers on E-Darpan and E-Anudaan, receiving NGO Unique ID AP/2010/0031957, enabling access to central government schemes.
National recognition
Awarded the SPANDAN National Award (Best Parent) by The National Trust, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
FCRA approval
Ministry of Home Affairs grants FCRA approval, authorising SRC to receive foreign contributions and international support.
Home-Based Centre launched
SHBC begins home visits across 9 villages — extending services to children who cannot travel to the centre.
YSR Lifetime Achievement Award
Government of Andhra Pradesh honours SRC in the Women & Child Empowerment category, presented by the Chief Minister.
